Throwing Bullpens during the winter prepare us for competition in the spring, and being ready to compete means getting hitters out! I had the privilege of being in the same locker room as John Smoltz. He preached to the younger guys to practice throwing as many strikes as possible in bullpens. We will miss the strike zone and throw plenty of balls through out our baseball career. Don't practice throwing breaking balls in the dirt or fastballs up and in. Practice commanding the zone and watch your results & stats benefit!
