The argument of STRIKES VS STUFF will always be present in the baseball world of a Coaches relationship with his pitchers. The way I see it is a Pitcher has to have good enough stuff to make the staff, and then has to throw strikes to compete and win. Both are equally important! There is a time and place to improve both comand and velocity. The necessity of increasing your ability will always be present. I believe you can increase velocity in-season with the proper program and attention to detail. When should a pitcher lift weights, go thru band exercises, long toss and get mound work in between games? I've got your answers.
